About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Centre Manager to lead our Dorchester centre, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and support for our learners with specialist educational needs within our specialist college setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, the ability to communicate effectively, a passion for fostering a positive environment for both staff and learners and ideally be from an educational background.

Duties
  • Lead and supervise a diverse team, ensuring high levels of motivation and performance.
  • Ensure quality of teaching meets QA requirements
  • Ensure performance targets are achieved
  • Ensure all data is recorded and maintained on systems introduced by the company in timely and accurate manner
  • Attend and provide a report for KIT meetings with Manager and SMT meetings
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Establish/maintain excellent links with commissioning organisations
  • Attend network meetings with external organisations as required
  • Attend meetings with other professionals regarding young people
  • Ensure the completion of paperwork for young people’s meetings on external platforms where needed
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with other Centre Managers
  • Work closely with Engagement Coordinator to ensure recruitment targets are achieved
  • Work closely with SENCO for the screening of EHCP consultations
  • Timetabling & staff allocation
  • Staff Cover arrangements
  • Building facilities management
  • Maintain compliance with H&S regulations within centre whilst promoting a safe working environment
  • Safeguarding, E&D, Prevent implementation
  • Quarterly 1:1 staff reviews
  • Arrangement of staff training. Online & real-life
  • Preparation of reports for Head of Learning and/or Directors
  • Cover for other CM’s if required
  • Contribute to OFSTED/MATRIX planning
  • Participation with all quality monitoring/inspections
  • Responsible to ensure achievement of requirements of all reporting staff
  • Champion for 1 role (to be confirmed)
  • Implement support plans for students if there is behaviour, attendance or engagement challenges
  • Completing and agreeing expenses/timesheets for staff and sending them to HR
  • Other duties of a commensurate nature as required.
 
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a similar environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Teaching qualifications
  • Understanding of working with young adults who have SEND/anxiety & behavioural difficulties
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures is essential
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies
  • Understanding of relevant polices /codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
  • Understanding of curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances within the workplace.
