About the role

We’re looking for an experienced HR professional to step into the role of HR Change Lead.

You’ll be part of a supportive and knowledgeable HR team that values collaboration, flexibility and practical solutions.

You’ll work on high-impact projects that shape the way we work as an organisation, with direct access to senior leaders and the opportunity to influence real outcomes.

There’s space to grow here too, whether developing your skills, or shaping how we deliver change across the council. We also offer flexible working, regular development opportunities, and the chance to be part of a team that genuinely supports one another.

What you’ll be doing

This role is all about leading people-related change activity across the council, including restructures, TUPE, and changes to terms and conditions. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, HR Business Partners, and colleagues in OD, Digital and Change to deliver a joined-up approach that’s both strategic and grounded.

You’ll guide managers through change processes, help shape policy and play a key role in building trust and constructive dialogue with our recognised Trade Unions. As part of the HR Centre of Excellence, you’ll also support the development of others in the team and contribute to our wider approach to delivering effective, people-centred HR services.

About you

You will be someone who brings clarity, calm, and confidence to organisational change.

We’re after someone who has a CIPD or with equivalent experience, with strong employment law knowledge and a background in handling complex employee relations and change work. You’ll need excellent judgement, a collaborative approach, and the confidence to influence at all levels.

We value transferable experience, so whether your background is in local government or elsewhere, if you bring the right mindset and expertise, you’ll fit right in.

Our Future Council

Join us as we transform how we work and serve Dorset. As part of the Our Future Council programme, this role plays a key part in shaping:

  • a more sustainable,
  • efficient,
  • and people-focused council.

We’re investing in:

  • better ways of working,
  • modern technology,
  • and a more joined-up approach to meet the changing needs of our residents.

This role is key to shaping our direction and driving change across the council. You will contribute to how we plan, prioritise and support colleagues, with a focus on collaboration, technology and insight. If you enjoy seeing the bigger picture and helping others succeed, this is a brilliant opportunity to influence how we deliver for Dorset.

Further Information

This is a fixed term role for 18 months from the start date, both part time or full time at 37 hours would be considered.

For an informal conversation or if you have any questions, please contact Natalie Adam who will be available to discuss at [email protected].

This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
