About the role

Pastoral Mentor (Engagement & Re-integration Team)

Permanent to start as soon as possible

Hours: Full time – 37 Hours Per Week

Paid Weeks: Term Time including INSET days plus 2 weeks (41 weeks worked, 47.35 paid weeks per year)

Salary Scale: Grades 7-9 depending on experience (actual salary range £23,602 - £31,996)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pastoral Mentor to join our amazing Engagement and Reintegration Team.  This is a key role at Compass and you will need to have an excellent work ethic, be a team player, have the ability to motivate in a supportive way, making a difference to young people’s lives, inspiring them to achieve and realise their true potential.  

You will be required to support students, and their families, from the initial request for a place at Compass; through their time with us and, where appropriate, to reintegration into mainstream school.  You will often be the first point of contact for students and families, signposting them to the relevant internal support and / or external agencies, as well as providing pastoral support to remove barriers to learning.  You will be required to support learners through transitions, attend meetings with external agencies and other stakeholders and other key roles set out in the job description.

This position would suit someone who has experience of working with, or supporting, young people in an education, social or youth work background, who ideally has some understanding of the education system, and is looking for a position in which they can further develop their existing skills and experience.

The young people we educate have struggled to maintain a place mainstream school and come to us with a variety of additional needs. Our challenge is to help them build the confidence, knowledge and skills to unlock their potential. This role will suit someone who is caring, understanding and can demonstrate energy and enthusiasm with a strong positive behaviour management ethos.

This position involves travel away from the Centre, therefore you will need to hold a full driving licence and have use of a vehicle with associated business use insurance.

The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.
