About the role

We’re looking for a Housekeeping/Facilities Assistant to join our friendly and hardworking housekeeping team at Leeson House Field Studies Centre.

Leeson House is part of Dorset Council’s Outdoor Education Service, delivering environmental education to students from primary level up to A-level. Set in 8 acres of inspiring and diverse grounds near Swanage, we offer both residential and day visits for schools throughout the year, accommodating up to 80 students and 12 staff at a time.

About the Role

If you take pride in maintaining clean and comfortable surroundings and enjoy working in a team, we’d love to hear from you.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas to a high standard
  • preparing linens and assisting with other housekeeping tasks as needed
  • ensuring cleanliness and hygiene across the centre for a welcoming guest experience
  • supporting other areas of the centre when needed, especially during busy periods

This is a part-time role (18 hours per week during term time, plus 4 weeks in school holidays). The hours follow a 4-week rota, mainly in the mornings between 09:30/10:00 – 12:30/14:00, with some weekend and bank holiday work required. Hours may vary in peak seasons, with flexi-time and time off in lieu (TOIL) offered during quieter periods.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • a positive and hardworking attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • good communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with guests
  • previous cleaning experience (preferred but not essential)
  • an understanding of child safeguarding procedures and knowledge of safe cleaning practices (training will be provided)

If you’re passionate about creating a welcoming environment for our visitors, apply today and become part of our dedicated team at Leeson House Field Studies Centre.

Further Information

Ideally we're looking for someone who has capacity for an immediate start.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like further information about the role. If you would like to have an informal conversation about this post, please contact Suzi Lewis - House and Catering Manager. Tel: 01929 422 126

This post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults and/or having access to significant information about them. It will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. See our policy on the employment of ex-offenders

We base the pro-rata salary on:

  • the number of hours
  • the number of weeks worked
  • paid annual leave entitlement for an employee under 5 years’ service

In the first year of service this salary may need to be adjusted to ensure you are paid accurately to reflect your holiday entitlement. A similar adjustment may be made at the point your employment ends to ensure that you are paid accurately for the number of days worked in any academic year.
