We provide exciting and engaging activities to children and young people across Dorset, and we are looking for enthusiastic sports and physical activity leaders to join us.
About Us: We are a dedicated team of sports coaches, leaders, and fitness instructors committed to keeping young people active and enjoying sports. Our mission is to make sports fun and accessible for everyone. We engage with youth groups, day camps and community events through the school holidays, weekends and evenings.
The Role: As an Action Van Sports Coach, you will travel to groups and events across the county to coach and lead sports and activity sessions. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver these sessions, gaining valuable experience and sharing your own ideas. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in diverse settings, collaborate with a passionate team, and make a real difference in the community.

About you
- Level 1 sports specific coaching qualification or equivalent or Generic sports coaching qualification
- Safeguarding children
- First aid
- Working in a team in a sports or other environment
- Effective communication - with individuals, groups and with colleagues to help plan, set up, run and review sessions.
- Problem solving – able to make decisions and use own discretion to ensure activities are safe and enjoyable.
- Adaptable – be able to adapt activities to ensure sessions meet the needs of the group, particularly for disabled participants.
- Effective coaching skills - to run sessions for various ages and abilities.
- Physically fit – able to stand for up long periods, keep up with activities and support children if appropriate.
- Policies and guidance – have a reasonable understanding of policies and guidance associated with the delivery of sports particularly those relating to safeguarding.
- Knowledge of health and safety, in a sports environment and when working with young children.
