About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled driver to join our team at the Bridec Depot in Bridport, working as part of the refuse and recycling service. This role involves driving various vehicles owned and operated by Dorset Council, so a minimum Category C driving licence is essential. Ideally, candidates will also hold a Category C1 licence, a valid Driver CPC, and a digital tachograph card, alongside a strong knowledge of EU and Domestic drivers’ hours regulations.

You’ll need to be flexible, prepared for early starts, and ready to work in all weather conditions. Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll regularly interact with the public. This is a physically demanding role, requiring you to carry out a variety of tasks, including cleansing, loading, lifting, and handling waste materials, such as boxes, bags, and wheeled bins.

A solid understanding of Health and Safety is essential, and previous experience in waste management or local area knowledge would be an advantage. The role is full-time, averaging 37 hours per week on a rota basis, with a requirement to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Flexibility for additional hours is also necessary.
