About the role

Join our Housing Register team at Dorset Council and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

You will be working within a very friendly, dynamic, and very supportive team whilst working collaboratively in a confidential environment.

You will have access to a range of employee benefits, be part of an organisation that supports each other to grow and succeed and will have access to a range of training opportunities which will help you with your personal development and career progression.

What can you expect do be doing:

You’ll have an opportunity to work within the Housing Register team at Dorset Council. You will be the first point of contact for the Housing Register, answering telephone calls and responding to the Dorset Home Choice email enquiries that come through relating to the Housing Register. These enquiries will vary from the public and other internal/external services of which you will be providing advice and signposting where applicable.

If applicants have difficulties in completing a Housing Register application form, you will be able to assist them and complete this application over the telephone.

You will work closely with the Housing Register Assessors who will be assessing the applications that come through which we assess in line with the Dorset Allocations Policy.

You will also assist with data cleansing of the Huume system to ensure that our data is accurate for reporting purposes.

About you

  • You will be working within a friendly, dynamic, and very supportive team whilst working collaboratively in a confidential environment.
  • The working environment is busy and dynamic, subject to interruptions to deal with queries via telephone and email, so you will be experienced in balancing multiple priorities.
  • You will have excellent telephony and written skills to provide as much advice/support to our applicants as possible.
  • Due to Housing being a busy service, its essential that you will be able to work effectively under minimum supervision.
