About The Role

If you are, then a fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Children’s Services Business Support Team. We have a vacancy for a Team Administrator in our Chesil Locality Team based in Weymouth.

This post offers the flexibility of working in a hybrid way providing support based in both the office as well as ‘virtual’ working from home. We maintain an effective team ethic by communicating with daily huddles, as well as using Microsoft Teams to communicate throughout the day providing a network of support within the Business Support team. Your work pattern would be shaped around the needs of the business and or service needs.

What you will be doing:
 

Dorset Council is committed to delivering services which ensure that children and young people in Dorset will be happy and safe and have opportunities to reach their goals as responsible members of their community. 

 

Reporting to a Team Leader, the post holder will be part of a team responsible for delivering high-quality business support to the operational Locality team which includes the following:

 
  • Social Care
  • Family Help 
  • Educational Psychologist
  • SEN/SEND provision
  • Best Start in Life Service
  • Specialist Educators
 

The team are a first point of contact and take phone calls from the public, young people, families, and professionals and so need to be customer focused and compliant with the Council's behaviours, standards, and statutory obligations e.g., Data Protection.

 

The role will be varied and interesting and the post holder will need to be motivated and flexible in their approach to work, confident in using their own initiative and able to prioritise a demanding workload to tight deadlines. The work would include, but is not limited to: 

  •  

    • General administration tasks including telephone triage, scanning and uploading documents, dealing with correspondence, and managing email inboxes. 
    • supporting multi agency meetings both virtually and in person  
    • Agenda setting and note taking.    
    • Undertaking financial tasks as required including payments, invoice processing and petty cash. 
    • Arranging transport, accommodation, and interpreter bookings

In Business Support we are forward thinking and embrace being digitally focused. Training for service-based systems will be provided and a good working knowledge of IT including the use of Outlook, Word and Excel is essential.

 

Experience is preferred for the post or with transferrable skills however office-based training will be provided as part of an induction training plan.

 

The working environment is busy and dynamic subject to interruptions and there will be work content of a sensitive/distressing nature particularly in teams involving direct contact with children and families. This will require resilience and confidentiality.
