We are looking for an Exercise Referral Specialist who is qualified to level 4, or an Exercise Referral Consultant who we would support through their level 4.
Purbeck Sports Centre is a large multi-activity leisure facility based in the historic town of Wareham, part of Dorset’s beautiful Isle of Purbeck.
The Centre is a key aspect of community life, making a difference to residents and school students, where anyone and everyone can get active, whether it’s in the gym, swimming pool, a fitness class or playing racquet sports.
You will be working within a supportive and collaborative team with a wealth of experience, where we prioritise support, learning, development, and wellbeing.
We offer flexible working that supports a healthy work-life balance and would be happy to discuss how you would prefer to work your hours in line with the needs of the sports centre.
Benefits include free parking, a fabulous location in the centre of a picturesque market town, discounted gym membership, and the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
If you are joining at a Consultant level you will work closely with the Active 4 Health team to deliver a successful and professional service.
You will work with customers who are low to medium risk, and you will manage their exercise programme, give feed-back and report progress back to the GP’s. We would hope with the correct training the post holder could progress to taking high risk referrals.
If you are joining as a Specialist you will manage the well-attended Exercise Referral Programme already in operation at the Sports Centre, working with customers who are at high risk and you will manage their exercise programme, give feed-back and report progress back to the GP’s.
As the first point of contact for the referral programme you will be required to liaise with Surgeries, Hospitals and Customers, you will be responsible for planning/delivering and monitoring the customers 8 weeks programmes.
You’ll be working with the public throughout the day and will be required to work at least one evening per week. At times you will be the only member of staff covering the gym floor and may be required to assist all gym users.
You will have a sound knowledge of all Health and Safety aspects of managing an Exercise Referral Programme.
You will be organisation and customer focussed and have good communication skills to resolve issues and answer queries.
You’ll ideally strong ICT skills as you will be required to work with Leisure Management software for programming and monitoring purposes.
If you would like an informal chat about this opportunity, please contact Michelle Goodman on 01929 500000 or michelle.goodman@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk
Closing date for applications is the 29th January. Interviews will be held Monday 6th February 2023.
