Business Solutions Engineer – Application Support Level 3

What’s in it for you:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the ICT Place team as applications support specialist. You will be part of a core team of 9 people and be working under the supervision of a Business Solutions Analyst.

The ICT Place Applications team look after over 400 applications across the Corporate and Place Directorates used by business areas such as Highways, Planning, Trading Standards, Registrars, Country Parks, Revenues & Benefits, Environmental Health, Leisure Centres and Libraries.

We are looking for a creative individual who enjoys a challenge and can resolve issues using various methods. The role will involve collaborating with different teams and colleagues, internal and external to the council. You will have the ability to build positive relationships with a range of colleagues at all levels.

What you can expect to be doing:

By joining the ICT Place Applications Team, you will be part of a team that is making a major contribution in delivering and transforming services across the Dorset Council Estate. You will be proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement in performance across the service, the wider business and within the team with an emphasis on supporting corporate plan objectives, ICT customer satisfaction and reducing cost of ICT service provision.

You will be identifying and resolving issues with applications, following agreed procedures. You will carry out applications maintenance tasks and manage application enhancements to continuously improve business and technical performance. You will be able to work alongside project teams to help improve business processes.

We adopt an agile approach to working, with opportunities to work either in the office or remotely depending on the activity. We encourage collaborative working across the service, where work can often overlap team areas.

There is an opportunity to cross skill into other areas to enhance your own professional development. 

About you:

We are looking for an individual who is keen to be part of a collaborative team that delivers results and can carry out the following:

  • Work in a demanding and busy environment and successfully dealing with prioritisation conflicts.
  • Develop positive customer relationships at a range of levels to respond effectively to customer needs.
  • Able to plan, schedule, prioritise and monitor own work, working proactively and without supervision in pre-defined areas and taking
    personal responsibility for work output and quality.
