Blandford Depot

HGV Driver Class 2 Driver/Operator

Location: Charminster, Blandford, Stalbridge or Ferndown Depots

Dorset Council are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 2 Driver/Operator to join the Highways Operations team. The post holder will be responsible for driving and operating specialist HGV equipment with the potential for a percentage of working time to be undertaken outside of standard working hours.

What you will be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take part in the out of hours Emergency Response and Winter Maintenance rotas.
  • Ensure daily drivers checks are undertaken and vehicles are maintained.
  • Operation of plant and equipment.
  • Set out and maintain temporary traffic management
  • Take responsibility for personal safety and ensure that actions do not adversely affect others
  • Ensure that PPE is kept clean and in good condition
  • Ensure that site records of work done are completed for every job
  • Ensure that near misses and hazards are reported in a timely manner
  • Ensure that defective plant and equipment if reported in a timely manner

Typical duties will include:

  • Driving specialist equipment such as Velocity Patcher, Grab Lorry, Gully Cart or General HGV
  • Jetting (high pressure)
  • Operating the Gully
  • Driving the Gully Tanker
  • Cleaning Drains
  • Operating a Velocity Patcher
  • Driving a Velocity Patcher
  • Operating a Hi-ab/Grab
  • Driving a Hi-ab/Grab

About you

Candidates MUST have;

  • Class 2 HGV Driving Licence
  • CPC
  • CSCS (although can be obtained)
