Permanent - 37 hours per week

Site/Depot Supervisor
Location: Stalbridge Depot

Dorset Council is looking to recruit a Depot Supervisor based primarily at Gibbs Marsh near Stalbridge. The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of a busy Highways yard and stores.

What you will be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stock control – Materials, plant and equipment.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance - Ensuring small plant and equipment is inspected on a regular basis and recorded accordingly.
  • Record keeping and stock takes.
  • Depot general cleanliness and safety.
  • Site security.
  • Assistance with Premises Responsible Person responsibilities including fire safety and water hygiene.
  • Contractor control and visitor safety.
  • Take responsibility for personal safety and ensure that actions do not adversely affect others.
  • Highlight any safety concerns to Site Agent which may arise and having an input into proposed solutions and their implementation.
  • Ensure that near misses and hazards are reported in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that required records are completed and maintained using the authorities internal systems including Fleetwave.
  • Provide support in other areas as required to provide holiday cover or similar.
  • Assist with Highway works duties if and when required.
  • Take part in the out of hours Emergency Response and Winter Maintenance rotas as required

About you

Essential:

  • Driving licence
  • Experience of general construction or civil engineering work
  • Experience of site and depot safety procedures
  • Experience of depot management or similar
  • Good communication skills
  • IT skills
  • Able to work in a team and under own initiative
  • To be assertive and diplomatic
  • Self-motivating and a good motivator of the workforce
  • Generally, to be willing, helpful, enthusiastic and flexible
