Support Manager

A great opportunity for an experienced manager to work somewhere that is fun and offers real opportunities to make a difference to people's lives!

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Learning Disabilities Support Manager within our new location in Sturminster Newton, Dorset.

This brand new project will be home to people with learning disabilities and associated support needs, across 18 supported living flats on one site, in a stunning location.

From the start of this exciting journey your role will be to carry out initial assessments from referrals, plan and attend initial meetings to get to know people we will be supporting, to reading their support plans and paperwork. You will be responsible for the recruitment of your own team, setting the bar with Affinity Trust values and embedding a strong culture of empowerment, independence and individualised support.

For some people this may be their first time move, so you will quickly build strong, professional and trustworthy relationships with all people involved and work creatively and professionally to ensure that the needs of the individuals are met, in the lead up to moving into their new home, to when they actually move in. You will ensure the people we support are involved every step of the way and creating access to all choices where possible, enabling self-belief and control.

Previous experience in managing similar locations for people with learning disabilities is essential. This location may also have one short term/move on flat, so experience in carrying out needs assessments and transition is also required.

You will be a driver with access to a car, as you will be required to travel for work purposes.

About us

At Affinity Trust all of the people we support have a learning disability but many have associated health needs, dementia, physical disabilities, profound and multiple learning disability or mental health needs.

We are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion and taking action to address inequality. We particularly welcome applications from anyone who is from a black, Asian or minority ethnic background, anyone who considers themselves to have a disability and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Affinity Trust is committed to being Disability Confident which is a scheme run by the Department of Work and Pensions. As part of our commitment all candidates who declare a disability and meet the essential criteria for the role will be guaranteed an interview.

Highly organised and self-driven you will be able to work flexibly and hold a full UK driving licence as you may need to provide on-call support and assistance when required.

Successful candidates will also be required to demonstrate, through practice, how they will ensure that Affinity Trusts’ values are upheld and how the staff teams are providing consistent and excellent support in line with these and how your values and practices can influence staff to be the best, by providing the best support to the people in the services.

Underpinning all of the above will be your knowledge of the sector and your values. You’ll have completed, or be willing to work towards a Health and Social Care Diploma, Level 5 qualification.

Above all else you’ll be patient, positive and have a good sense of humour!
