Service Designer

Fixed term 2 years

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the award-winning Digital team as a Service Designer, working alongside our Service Design & Digital adoption manager and team of Content Designers, User Adoption specialists and Business Partners.   

What you will be doing  

You will take a user-centred and iterative approach to designing end-to-end customer journeys, helping users to complete their goal and receive a service as quickly and easily as possible. 

You will get involved in large, complex change projects, leading multi-disciplinary teams and helping people to rethink the way services are delivered.  You will be responsible for leading on activity to understand user needs, gathering and analysing information including understanding cost and performance to identify opportunities to improve services.

You will be responsible for running collaborative design activities, building relationships, influencing others, and building consensus to design and implement future services with accessibility, equality and inclusion, security, and climate impact in mind.  We believe in a working across services and suppliers as one team.

About you   

We’re looking for someone who: 

  • can innovate, ‘think outside the box,’ and is willing to experiment to deliver the best transformational change to the organisation
  • can understand and listen to users, identifying who they are and what their needs are, based on evidence
  • can translate user stories and propose design approaches or services to meet these needs
  • can focus on outcomes rather than solutions and activities.
  • is passionate about what they do and determined to make a difference
  • has experience of undertaking user research and analysing data to identify opportunities to improve services 
  • has experience of working with groups of stakeholders and creating a collaborative environment, building trust to design and implement new customer journeys
  • can apply knowledge and experience to create or work with others to design workable prototypes, testing with others and re-using established design patterns
